Golden Dome of the Aquatarium

Abstract/Description: An aerial view of the Golden Dome of the Aquatarium of the Gulf of Mexico at St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. The Aquatarium opened in 1964, and featured trained aquatic animals. Postcard was postmarked in 1996. Printed text on the postcard reads, "The "golden dome" of the Aquatarium on the Gulf of Mexico at St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, the world's largest geodesic dome. Grandstand and audience are visible in the shadow of the protective golden cover of the dome. A porpoise can be seen jumping through a hoop - one of the many unbelievable feats performed by porpoises, sea lions, and whales." Message text reads, "Sunshine Postcard Club Meeting. December 14, Saturday 9-3, Holiday Inn Express, 4732 N. Dale Mabry Blvd, Tampa." Postcard features a 20 cent stamp with a blue jay on it.
