Joan Haley on the shore

Abstract/Description: Joan Haley was a journalist and socialite who retired to Pass-a-Grille in the 1950s. She purchased the dilapidated Pass-a-Grille Community Church building, which was at risk of being torn down following the relocation of the congregation. Upon her death, she left the structure to Pinellas County; the building is now home to the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum. This photograph is of Joan Haley by the water. She is smiling and sitting in front of a canoe and paddles. She is wearing a dark colored swimsuit, light colored lace-up boots and a cap. There are various people swimming and canoeing in the water in the background.
