Tropical St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico

Abstract/Description: | A postcard depicting St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. Visible in the photo is the beach, and an Aquatarium which was a popular tourist destination which showcased trained marine animals. The caption on the photo side of the postcard reads “Tropical St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico” On the other side of the postcard is a letter from a mother to her son, James S. Rose, she talks about her visit to St. Petersburg. Her letter reads “Tuesday, Dear Jim- I’m sitting on the pier in downtown St pete feeling somewhat nostalgic because this time tomorrow I’ll be on my way to Tampa International- and who knows if I’ll ever make it back. It has been a nice five days, beautiful weather-and they had 9 inches of snow yesterday in Poratello! Hard to believe when it’s 83 degrees here and all sunshine. This new pier is a vast improvement to the city even if it is “touristy.” Mom Had dinner with Jim Watts + wife last nite” |
