Claude Rigsby and Willis Booth

Abstract/Description: This black and white photograph shows the influential Claude Rigsby standing next to Willis Booth, the great grandson of Count Odett Philippe, for whom Philippe Park is named. This picture was likely taken at the McMullen-Booth Annual Picnic, held at Philippe Park. Claude Rigsby served on the Safety Harbor City Commission for 10 years and as mayor for 8 years throughout the 70's and early 80's. Willis Booth was born in Safety Harbor and his father had a meat market on Main Street. Later he served as Clearwater Chief of Police from 1957-1968. Both men are an essential part of Safety Harbor and Pinellas County history.
